A great educator

Imagen
Hi guys! This is maybe the last blog that I write and I'm going to talk about an expert in my field that, unfortunately, the university don't teach us much about him. His name is Paulo Freire, he was a Brazilian educator and philosopher who formalized the Critical Pedagogy and accomplished one of the most significant works: The Pedagogy of the Oppressed. During the 60's, he did a campaign in Brazil to teach poor and illiterate people to read, write and fight against their oppressors. Almost two million illiterate adults would participate in the work of 20.000 cultural circles throughout the country. Freire was incarcerated during 70 days in 1964 when the dictatorship started in Brazil, being accused of preach comunism and his method of literacy was forbidden. Later, he was exiled during difficult 16 years.  I admire Paulo Freire because he dedicated his life to educate people to liberate him, and I think, just like him, that the pedagogy can't be divorced to politic. My favourite picture

Hi guys! how are you? Today i'm going to show you my favourite picture The picture shows my nephew Thomás, on his first day of face to face classes after the pandemic. I took this photo when I went to drop him off to school with my dad and my brother. I love this picture because he looks so happy to be there.  He was in Kindergarten when the pandemic started and the online classes began, so he had to say goodbye to all his friends, classmates and teachers, which was difficult to him because he's very friendly. One year later, they started having face to face classes in small groups, with masks and they weren't allowed to play or get too close to each other, so it wasn't the same. But in 2022, when I took this photo, it was different. Nobody was wearing masks, all the classmates were hugging each other and Thomás was so happy, I mean, just look at his adorable face.  I'm sorry for being too "chocha" but his like my own son. Well, that's all, guys. See ...

My favourite piece of technology and my tragedy

Imagen
Hi everyone! it's me again. Today I'm going to talk about my cellphone: my favourite piece of technology and my personal tragedy. I like my phone because it is incredibly useful, and I use it for almost everything. First of all, without my phone, I couldn't wake up early and I would always be late to class - thank you, alarm-. Secondly, I need to listen to music during my commute from home to the university or wherever I go (thanks to my headphones for that too). Other things I use my phone is taking pictures, calling my mom to ask her if I have to buy bread, writting notes to remember some tasks, playing Geometry Dash, and my worst nightmare: checking instagram. I don't have an addiction problem, I believe I still have self-control, but God knows I'd be to powerful if I didn't use instagram.  I would recommend using a cellphone, it's a versatile tool that offers you a lot of solutions at the palm of your hand, but don't install instagram, please.  Well,...

Why did you choose to study this career?

Imagen
Hi guys! it's Romina again. This new post is about my career. I remember that when I was a little girl, I wanted to be the same thing as every single girl: a veterinarian. I didn't even like animals that much, but it was a famous thing among my female classmates. It didn't last too much, when I was like 7 years old, my mother noticed that I had a white stain in my face, so she took me to the doctor and he said that I had Vitiligo. It was a weirder disease at that time, so my mother didn't know anything about it and she was so worried, poor mom. But for me it was so fun, I liked my stain and I started to like more things about the skin, so I wanted to be a dermatologist. That wish lasted so long until I started secondary school, when I started to like criminalistic things but still enjoyed biology so I decided to study Forensic Science. Even when I was in 10th grade, a fantastic biology teacher arrived to my school and like always, he started to ask us what we wanted to ...

My Autobiography

Imagen
Hello there! This is my first post in my English blog and the subject is my autobiography. I was born on January 9th, 2001, in Santiago, Chile. I have lived in Maipú all my life with my family: my dad Servando, my mom Odette, my big brother Fabián, my nephew Thomás and my hedgehog Chispita, my big sister Carolina is currently living in New Zealand with her boyfriend (yes, she's the lucky one).  I studied in two primary schools, El Abrazo School and Las Americas School. For secondary education, I studied at Poeta Rubén Darío School in Maipú. Currently, I'm in 4th year to become a Math and Physics teacher in Universidad de Chile.  I have participated in some organizations that work together with Popular Schools, that is my favourite part of it. Currently, I participate in a organization called Fuerza Pobladora de Chile and they have a children organization in Ñuñoa where I work every Wednesday and Saturday.  In my free time, I like to draw, crochet, watch movies and hang ou...
